| Situated in the former "Logis du Roy", this museum relives the history of Granville through the centuries from the days of cod fishing to a fashionable seaside resort. Collection of regional costumes, furniture and lace headware. | Richard Anacréon gew-up in Granville before moving to Paris where he worked as a bookshop owner until 1959. His friendly nature enabled him to meet many personalities in the literature and art circles that where then "en vogue": Paul Valery, Claudel, Pierre Mac Orlan, Blaise Cendrars, Jean Cocteau, Colette, Montherlant, Salmon... As year passed by, Richard Anacreon had collected a great number of paintings and writings. His paintings collection features such artists as Derain, Dufy, Picasso, Signac, Vlaminck, Van Dongen, Utrillo... Through its books, letters, manuscripts, photographs and pieces of art, the museum's permanent collection reflects the literary and artistic life of Montmartre and montparnasse in the first half of the 20th century. Some temporary exhibitions related to these artists are regularly set up, and on these occasions, the museum invites the visitors to attend specialised lectures given by guest speakers. | |
